I am the Apex Team's programming mentor for the 2015-2016 season.
A little bit about me: I have been working in programming since the age of punched cards and paper tape. I did my Ph.D. in Calgary, researching Automatic Speech Recognition and graduating in 1982. Since then I have worked in many different areas: video games, pipeline control systems & databases, 3D sound systems and cryptography. Most recently I worked for Yahoo! Inc. analyzing search relevance, and improving spelling correction and search-as-you-type. At present I am trying to develop autonomous drone control software using cheap, off-the-shelf, miniature quadcopters and cameras.
